How the Piggy Bank Got its Name

Early Europeans, not yet having invented banks in which to save their money, used clay jars to set aside a few of their mostly meager earnings. These containers were called "pygg," named after the type of clay used to make them, thus leading modern imagination to jump from "pygg bank" to a saving container in the shape of a cute, little pig - the beloved "piggy bank."

Nowadays, pigs have been joined by coin savers of all shapes and sorts. As you'll soon discover in our Ballroom Boutique, ceramic penny savers of dressed bunnies, ducks, cows, frogs, and rooster are indeed stealing the scene! If you are in search of a perfect gift for a special friend or a fun and useful accessory for any room of the house, come and meet our Barnyard Bank Collection. Save a penny here and a dime there, and pretty soon your piggy will be loaded with that needed extra for a special dinner, project, or perhaps a trip. And at the budget pleasing price of $15.99 each, these oversized banks will help you save, too!
